UPDATES: Salem Police are looking for hit-and-run driver

Salem Reporter keeps you informed of the latest Covid figures. Here is our report from Wednesday, October 6.

New Covid Cases Reported in Marion County: 167

New Covid Cases Reported in Polk County: 121

Total Salem Hospital Patients With Covid: 81 from Wednesday morning, a drop of two compared to Tuesday. Of these, 17 are in intensive care and nine are on a ventilator.

Sixty-five of those hospitalized are not vaccinated against Covid.

Total occupancy of hospital beds in Salem: 463 of the 494 authorized beds used

Total number of people hospitalized with Covid in Region 2 (Marion, Polk, Yamhill, Linn, Benton, Lincoln counties): 135, down three from Tuesday. Of these, 29 are in intensive care and 12 are on ventilators.

Total occupancy of hospital beds in region 2: 95 of 101 intensive care beds staffed and 643 of 662 non-ICU beds used.

New Covid Deaths Reported: 33

The deaths reported on Tuesday included two residents of Marion County. They are:

A 73-year-old man who tested positive on September 7 and died on October 1 in Salem hospital. He had underlying conditions.

A 60-year-old man who tested positive on August 13 and died on October 1 in Salem hospital. The presence of underlying conditions is confirmed.

No deaths in Polk County have been reported.

New Covid Vaccines in Oregon: 6,184 new Covid doses on October 5, including 1,203 first doses; 1,336 second doses and 3,602 third doses.
