Rib Burn Off and Car Show June 26-27 at the Fairgrounds | Local News

JEFFERSON – The first-ever auto and coast burning show kicks off this summer at the Ashtabula County Fairgrounds.

The event, sponsored by the Ashtabula County Fair Board of Directors, will run June 26-27 from noon to 8 p.m.

“A few of us thought, ‘There’s nothing else going on at the fair grounds other than the fair,’ so we decided to add a few more events,” Herb Waters said, member of the board of directors of the fair. “We encourage people to go out and enjoy the food, music and the car show. “

Three national barbecue rib teams, along with nine other food vendors and a beer wagon, will provide attendees with a variety of food and drink. The hill teams will compete for prizes.

The Rough Cut Band will perform from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and an auto show will be held all day, on both days.

“The first 100 cars registered will receive dashboard plates,” he said.

Entrance and parking are free.

“We hope this will be really important,” said Sue Stockwell, longtime fair board member.

Stockwell and Waters hope Mother Nature will cooperate as well.

According to the National Weather Service, daily highs for the end of June range from 73 to 80 degrees and rarely drop below 62 degrees.
