Ramona News Briefs: Chamber’s Halloween Event Gives Ramona a Spooky Vacation

The annual Merchants Safe Trick-or-Treat event will give Ramona the opportunity to celebrate Halloween with businesses on Halloween night.

Businesses on the main street, from Etcheverry Street to Third Street, will open their doors to distribute sweets and other goodies to children in costume from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, October 31. The event is presented by the Ramona Chamber of Commerce.

Joe Stupar, executive director of the Chamber, said he appreciates the participating companies and sponsors.

“Companies invest a lot of money in candy and we appreciate what they do for the community,” Stupar said. “It comes from the heart.”

Car Show gears up for festivities to benefit the Ramona Senior Center

Muscle cars and vintage classics will be among a variety of vehicles on display at the Ramona Senior Center Car Show.

The parking lot at Grace Community Church, 1234 Barger Place, will be filled with vehicles parked for viewing from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 22. Drivers presenting vehicles can start arriving as early as 8 a.m.

Spectators and drivers are encouraged to donate to the Ramona Senior Center.

The April 23 Spring Auto Show had 135 vehicles on display and raised more than $6,200, with all proceeds going to the Senior Center, auto show organizer Leroy Clubb said.

“We hope we repeat it,” Clubb said. “We offer a lot. I hope people will take that into consideration and come out where they see some nice cars along the way.

The event will include free hot dogs, chips and water, a silent auction, opportunity raffle prizes and trophies for Best of Show vehicle and People’s Choice vehicles. Participating vehicle owners can also be entered into a draw to win three $50 cash prizes and two $50 gift cards.

The Car Show is presented by Ramona American Graffiti Cruise and The Over the Hill Gang Car Club. For more information, call Clubb at 619-980-3647.
