Motor show returns to Killarney –

Killarney’s Cruise Night returns after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic.

The main street will be lined with vehicles on Thursday evening of June 9.

Keith Kemp is part of the local car club and can’t wait to come back for Cruise Night and see other car enthusiasts and people come out to see the cars, trucks and motorcycles. “We’ve missed a few years and we’re hoping to get things back on track and we’re hoping to get people here because you know with the fuel prices we’re a little nervous but we have entertainment and the fir department puts in set up a barbecue so we’re ready to go.

The car show runs from 6.00pm to 8.00pm and takes place on the main street of Killarney between the post office and the shopping centre. “The way the economy is and the fuel prices we hope for the best.”

The club organizes night cruises three times a summer and this happens on the second Thursday of the month.

“We usually get between 60 and 70 vehicles and hope to see a similar number on Thursday evening. We went down to 30 or 35 and it all depends on the weather. If the weather is good, people like to go out with their garden chairs and visit. It’s not just for vehicle owners, it’s for the whole community.

Keith Kemp says people just like to go out and have a burger and a drink and listen to entertainment while watching the vehicles.

“This is a fundraising event for the fire department and if we get any donations or other funds we will give it to the fire department as they have been very good to us,” said said Keith Kemp.
