Mother Road Meet on May 6 and 7

MADISON – World Wide Technology Raceway will host the annual Mother Road Rendezvous nostalgia event on May 6-7.

On May 7, nostalgic dredgers will be joined by the traditional pre-1970 car show, rockabilly DJs, a pin-up contest, vintage campers and middle-of-the-road vendors.

Nostalgic drag racing classes include Great Lakes Nostalgia Funny Cars, Nostalgia Drag Racing League (NDRL), Gasser Madness Classes, Hot Rod Eliminator Class, and Victory Nostalgia Super Stocks.

Halfway through, the traditional ’60s-plus car show will award the iconic WWTR MRR pinstripe electric guitar to the Best in Show winner. The pin-up contest will award cash prizes.


The Great Lakes Nostalgia Funny Car Circuit plans to send four cars to WWTR, including John Troxel’s “Brutus” Mustang, Chuck Horvath’s “Mopar Missile” Challenger and Dale Kleinhoffer’s Hemi-powered Firebird.

Doors open at 9 a.m. May 6 with time trials and qualifying at 5 p.m. Doors open at 8 a.m. May 7 with a car show from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for 1969 and older vehicles. The opening ceremonies of the drag races take place at noon; the pin-up contest is at 2:30 p.m. The last drag races start at 5 p.m.
