King of Fighters 15 Update 1.20 Patch Notes: Omega Rugal, Boss Mode Challenge & Mechanical Changes


King of Fighters 15 has received update 1.20 which adds a host of new changes including free DLCs and general bug fixes. Here’s everything you need to know about the patch.

Released on February 14, KOF15 players were able to play as thirty-nine different characters across more than ten stages.

Hot on the heels of the first batch of paid DLC in Team Garou, SNK is back with another batch of King of Fighters 15 status quo changes via their April 14 update, patch 1.20.

By adding game mechanics such as “Max Mode” and “Max Mode Quick”, fighters seamlessly chain combos making the game more accessible.

So, to fix bugs, move changes, and more to keep the game as fresh as it was when it first arrived, the developers have released a community patch update.

Omega Rugal makes its long-awaited appearance in KOF15

King of Fighters 15 Patch Notes for Update 1.20

Starting April 14, 2022, KOF15 players will be able to download the latest patch for the fighter.

Fixing some general bugs for current and next-gen consoles, King of Fighters 15 patch 1.20 does more for the game that fans have been asking for some time, including the addition of Omega Rugal as free DLC.

Here’s everything included in Patch 1.20 for the Legendary Fighting Franchise:

Added features:

Fair Play Score: All players’ Fair Play Score has been reset.

Free DLC Character: Added legendary OMEGA RUGAL to the roster.

Game Modes: Added a new mode called BOSS CHALLENGE with Omega Rugal for nightmare players to defeat.

Game mechanics:

Climax Super Special Moves: Changed the timer so it now stops during the Climax Super Special Move attack animation.

Jump: Fixed an issue where performing an emergency evade while jumping at a specific time would cancel landing frames.

Character attack changes:

SHUN’EI: Rising Efreet(Heavy) →↓↘+HP

  • Fixed an issue where opponents were knocked back differently when hit standing or crouching (they are now knocked back as if they were standing, it doesn’t matter)

DOLORES: Ghadab ↓↙←↓↙←+LP or HP, ↓↙←↓↙←+LP HP

  • The developers fixed an issue that caused unintended behavior when hitting in certain situations.

YASHIRO NANAKASE: Crouching

  • The crouching push/throw hitbox has been moved back. (Now same as other characters)

SHERMIA: Shermie Cute during an S. Clutch ↓↘→+LK or HK

  • Fixed an issue where this attack was not granting the character invulnerability.

ATHENA ASAMIYA: Hurt voice

  • Fixed an issue where an unintended hurt voice would play for Athena when her own Reflected Crystal Shoot hit her.
  • Phoenix Arrow (Light) In the Air↓↙←+LK
  • Since players could under certain circumstances perform multiple continuous combos from the Phoenix Arrow, we changed the attack so that it can no longer hit continuously.

King of Fighters 15 saw some of its characters receive nerfs and buffs from Patch 1.20

CLARK AGAIN: Far Standing HK

  • Fixed an issue where this attack could cancel in Vulcan Punch.
  • Flashing elbow during S. Lift (DDT) ↓↘→+LP or HP
  • Fixed an issue where this attack was not granting the character invulnerability.

RAMON: Flying Body Attack During Rolling Sobat →↓↘ LK or HK

  • Fixed an issue where this attack was not granting the character invulnerability.

ANGEL: Unchain・Step(EX) ←↙↓↘→+LK HK

  • Fixed an issue where damage scaling was not working as intended when hitting under certain circumstances.

ROCK HOWARD: Shinkuu Nage(Normal) →↘↓↙←→LP or HP

  • Fixed an issue where this attack was not providing the character with invulnerability when logging in.
  • Fixed an issue that caused unexpected behavior when hitting in certain situations.

B.JENET: Facial expression

  • B. Jenet didn’t close her eyes when hit by some CLIMAX super special moves (she now has the same expression as other characters)

King of Fighters is expected to get more DLC characters this year, but the exact date has yet to be announced. It will be interesting to see who else gets added and what other features the SNK developers decide to play with in the process.
